Introduction

AlpRobTAG-C represents an evolution of the previous system of coil tagging by welding. The new model uses a more effective ringing system that attaches a tag to the coil's binding. The use of Machine Vision technology makes it possible to identify the ideal portion of the binder, within the coil, on which to affix the tag.

System architecture

AlpRobTAG-C consists of a 6-axis anthropomorphic robot equipped with a pneumatic gripper and vision system, an auxiliary device for preparing metal rings, a printer, a punching machine, and a ringing machine. For plants requiring faster ringing cycles, a variant featuring a dedicated unit that automates the printing and ringing functions in a single solution is available. An option for inserting multiple tags and an option for verifying that the information has been printed is also provided upon request.

How it works

A robot guidance system, based on machine vision technology, enables the reconstruction of the skein profile and then proceeds to identify the optimum point of the tie on which the robot will go to grip by pneumatic gripper. Depending on the plant configuration, an auxiliary system or dedicated unit provides for printing of the identification tag(s), punching, ringing, production and insertion of the metal staples. If present, a special control device verifies that the printing of the tags has taken place correctly. Finally, the robot proceeds to pick up the finished tag for subsequent binding.
